In 1992 Lisa O’Brien started her career straight out of high schools as a Receptionist in the IT industry. Lisa worked her way up to the positions of Engineering Services Coordinator, Account Manager, Business Development Coordinator. In 1999 Lisa transitioned into the IT Recruitment industry to combine her knowledge of information technology with her skills in sales development and account management. During her time as a 360 degree recruiter Lisa was responsible for Recruitment of IT professionals into Melbourne from Sydney. Later taking over responsibility for Recruitment for Brisbane and leading a small team of Recruiters.
In 2004 Lisa competed studies in Coaching and transitioned into the coaching industry by combining her combining her experience in recruitment, interview training, contract management and job search assistance together with her knowledge gained working in sales based roles.
In 2007 Lisa aligned her business to fit around motherhood by working at night so that she could be a full-parent, whilst still building her career.
In 2013 Lisa reconfigured CareersCoach Training website to create a training training framework that complies with the Certificate IV in Career Development and applied her experience in Careers Coaching, sales and business development.
During her career Lisa has been responsible for:
- Contract management for teams of up to 30 contractors
- Coordination of teams of up to 25 information technology professionals
- Full 360 degree recruitment
- Conducting hundreds of job interviews and shortlisting top candidates and assisting professionals and technology experts in the development of their careers from graduate level through to executive level positions
Lisa has written numerous career based articles for women’s magazines, advising young women on how to build their careers. Lisa has written career advice articles and answered online reader career questions for Cosmopolitan magazine, written for SheSaid online magazine. Lisa is regularly quoted in the media on matters relating to career building, most recently in the Dolly Magazine and Girlfriend magazine.
